What is offline communication?


Offline communication is quite simply, exactly what it sounds like, communicating offline. This means without the use of the internet. Unfortunately for some, this can mean taking part in human interaction.


In some ways, offline communication isn’t too different from any other communication methods. You still need to be engaging, polite, clear and respectful. Even though technology is quickly advancing, it is still important and beneficial to communicate offline.


Even though technology and the internet have grown massively over the years, you can still attract people to your brand using offline communication. People are still paying attention to printed words. Some people can view advertising on social media as fake or disingenuous, especially the older generations, so offline communications have their place in your marketing strategy.


We’re not going to tell you that you should only communicate offline, we know online communications can be incredibly beneficial, you can talk to people on the other side of the world, from your own home and at a low cost. We just want to offer our opinion on effective alternatives to enable your loyalty and rewards activity to be as effective as possible.


What are the benefits to offline communication?


There is so much you can do with offline communication, if you think about it, it’s all around you, at bus stops, on billboards, supermarket trolleys, roundabouts, petrol pump handles and even on the back of toilet doors!


There are so also a lot of benefits to verbal offline communication. Despite most people spending a lot of time online, humans need real human interaction, it’s where we are born with a sense of belonging to people, its where we get our energy, thoughts, and ideas from.


Allow others to get involved by giving them the opportunity to give a different point of view, you can use their ideas to build on yours allowing you to potentially create something better than what you could have on your own. If you don’t understand someone else’s perspective or point of view – ask, help each other.


How do I communicate offline?


The key to communicating offline is to have a similar presence offline that you do online. Just because you’re offline doesn’t mean that you can be disingenuous, dishonest, or disengaged. People can still tell whether or not you’re being sincere.


Communicating offline isn’t limited to just a few people having a chat. Offline communication includes:

  • Written communication

o E.g letters, brochures, reports, proposals, and contracts.

  • Verbal communication

o E.g public speaking, trade shows and telephone

  • Media

o E.g tv shows, radio shows and electric billboards

  • Business

o E.g Business cards, rebrand, vouchers, and events


It’s so important to connect with your potential customers at the right time and using the right method of communication but it all really depends on the message you’re trying to get out there and who you’re putting it out there for. To really boost your communication, you could use offline and online communications simultaneously.
